What is Blepharoplasty Surgery?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure designed to rejuvenate the eyes and restore a youthful, refreshed look. It corrects sagging skin on the upper eyelids and removes fatty pouches beneath the lower eyelids, while also softening fine lines around the eyes.

The causes of eyelid drooping or puffiness may be hereditary, genetic, or age-related, and blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids, or both simultaneously for a balanced and revitalized appearance.

Who is it For?

Blepharoplasty is suitable for both men and women, typically from the age of 40, though it may be performed earlier (from age 25) in cases of hereditary eyelid puffiness or drooping.

Type of Anesthesia and Procedure Duration

Eyelid surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia with mild intravenous sedation, ensuring comfort without the need for general anesthesia.

• Duration: About 1 hour, depending on whether the procedure involves the upper lids, lower lids, or both.

Procedure & Recovery

Upper Eyelids

• A discreet incision is placed in the natural crease of the eyelid.
• Excess skin and, when necessary, small fat deposits near the inner corners of the eyes are removed.
• The incision is closed with very fine, absorbable sutures, leaving no visible scar once healed.

Lower Eyelids

• A fine incision is made just beneath the lash line (1–2 mm).
• Fatty bags are removed, and excess skin is gently tightened.
• Sutures are placed with ultra-fine, absorbable threads, resulting in virtually invisible scars.

After the procedure, a light elastic bandage is applied for 2–3 hours to support healing.
